The use and repair method of porous aluminum extrusion die

2025-07-17

The extrusion die works under very harsh conditions, and the high temperature, high pressure and high-strength friction lead to a relatively short life of the extrusion die. The main failure mode of the extrusion die is wear failure, and the aluminum profile is directly in contact with the working belt through high temperature and high pressure in the extrusion production process, which produces strong friction, so that the surface of the extrusion die cavity and the surface of the working belt are worn and fail, and the mold cracks and fails. In the aluminum production process, after a period of time, the extrusion die will produce small cracks in the weak strength, and gradually expand to the depth as the production continues, and cracks or fractures will occur when they reach a certain extent. Deformation failure, generally the mold in the use of the cantilever eccentricity, sagging. It may be due to insufficient intensity or other reasons. In view of the above problems affecting the life of the mold, the following aspects should be paid attention to in the design, manufacture and use and maintenance of the porous mold: the design of the porous mold must pay attention to the placement of the shunt hole, because there are many bridges, so it is necessary to have a reasonable layout and perfect pressure relief. In the manufacturing process, special attention should be paid to weak parts and stress concentrations.

The maintenance of porous extrusion die should first solve the problem of discharging length, and try not to move the working belt or welding when repairing the mold, it is best to achieve the repair of the mold by adjusting the flow rate of the deflector or welding chamber, so as to maintain the stability of the extrusion die as much as possible. It is necessary to clean the porous mold, and there are many corners and subtleties that are difficult to polish and polish by hand, and we generally use a polishing sandblasting machine to clean the surface.

After the extrusion die is qualified, nitriding treatment should be carried out immediately to strengthen the surface of the extrusion die to better cope with aluminum production. In the production of aluminum profiles, it is necessary to avoid frequent loading and unloading of molds as much as possible, and reduce the decline of comprehensive performance caused by sudden cooling and heating of molds as much as possible. The maintenance of the extrusion die in the later stage is also very important, and the mold must be cleaned and sprayed with rust inhibitor before entering the warehouse.

Since then, the appropriate improvement of the life of the porous mold is a comprehensive system project, which can only be achieved by implementing a comprehensive mold tracking and control system.
