Precautions for Trial Molding of Aluminum Extrusion Dies and Casting Molds
What is mold trial:
1. Extend the processing operating time to stabilize the temperature of the hot melt adhesive and hydraulic oil.
2. Adjust the machine conditions according to whether all finished product dimensions are too large or too small. If the shrinkage rate is too high and the products appear underfilled, the gate size can be increased as a reference.
3. Correct any mold cavities that are too large or too small. If the mold cavity and gate size are correct, try adjusting the machine parameters.
4. Make individual adjustments based on the fit of each mold cavity product or core displacement, and further adjust the filling rate and mold temperature as needed to improve uniformity.
5. Inspect and repair any malfunctions of the injection machine, such as issues with the oil pump, oil valve, and temperature controller. Poor conditions in any of these can cause the processing conditions to change, and even the most perfect mold cannot operate efficiently on a poorly maintained machine.
After checking all the recorded values, keep a set of samples for verification to compare whether the corrected samples have improved.
1. During trial runs of aluminum extrusion molds and the aluminum extrusion process, special attention should be paid to the following aspects:
A. Determine the mold and rod temperature before aluminum alloy profile extrusion. Ensure the extrusion temperature requirements are met and check whether the heating reaches the core.
B. In aluminum extrusion molds, always first check whether the critical parts of new molds are qualified, such as: press plate grooves, cooling water systems, etc. After adjusting the mold lock, find the origin without load, calculate the positions for booster pressure, secondary and primary strokes based on the origin, then adjust the length of the ejector pins. Determine cooling time and pressing time based on the product wall thickness. Decide spoon size and feed volume according to product size. Start with slow pressing; remember that if there is a risk of sticking, preheat the mold first. During slow pressing, brush oil on the mold without spraying water; spray water only after the mold is fully heated. Align to the center position to avoid collapse or mold clogging.
C. Choose the appropriate extrusion speed for different aluminum alloy profile molds to avoid material flow problems caused by excessive speed.
D. During the aluminum alloy profile extrusion process, also pay attention to the quality of the aluminum rods to prevent mold damage caused by impurities in the rods, and so on.
2. Repairing aluminum extrusion molds is a very important step, but the first consideration in mold repair is its strength. Mold repair should be carried out while ensuring the mold's strength. Welding is generally not used unless absolutely necessary, as welding can significantly affect the mold's lifespan. Especially welding in the working area, which can easily reduce its service life. For restoring the profile speed, usually the slower areas are repaired to increase speed rather than slowing down the faster areas.
3. During the mold seasoning process, special attention must be paid to the punching steps, especially in screw holes or more fragile areas, otherwise it is easy to damage the mold.
4. The handling of aluminum extrusion molds should be carried out carefully to avoid bumps to the working areas and other parts. Before storing the mold, it must be thoroughly cleaned and carefully inspected in detail for fine cracks or damages.
5. For molds that have completed production, it is essential to manage their process data effectively, such as mold repair plans, processing details, and extrusion processes. This information can serve as a reference for supplementing or replicating similar molds in the future, effectively improving the mold pass rate during machine operation.
In summary, improving the lifespan of extrusion molds relies on a perfect link between design, manufacturing, usage, and subsequent maintenance processes. Relying on a single aspect cannot effectively achieve the goal. Through the effective integration of each step, it is believed that the mold lifespan can be correspondingly improved.
Aluminum Alloy Die Casting Mold Trial:
First, check whether the key parts of the new mold meet standards, such as the clamping plate groove, cooling water, etc. After adjusting the mold clamping, find the zero point by performing an empty shot, calculate the positions for intensification, second-speed, and first-speed according to the zero point, then adjust the length of the ejector pins. Determine the cooling time and injection time according to the wall thickness of the product. Decide the size of the ladle and the amount of material based on the size of the product. Start with slow injection. Remember, if there is a risk of the mold sticking, the mold must be preheated first. During slow injection, do not spray water on the oiled mold; wait until the mold is heated before spraying water.
