Manufacturing requirements for aluminum profile extrusion processing molds.
1. Due to the extremely harsh working conditions of aluminum alloy extrusion processing molds, which must endure high temperatures, high pressures, and high friction during the extrusion process, high-strength, heat-resistant alloy steel is required. The processes involved in smelting, casting, forging, heat treatment, electroprocessing, mechanical processing, and surface treatment of these steels are very complex, which poses a series of difficulties in mold processing.
2. In order to improve the service life of aluminum profile extrusion processing molds and ensure the surface quality of the products, the roughness of the mold cavity working belt must reach 0.8-0.4μm, and the roughness of the mold flat surface must be below 1.6μm. Therefore, special polishing processes and polishing equipment are needed during mold making.
3. Due to the development of extrusion products toward high precision and complexity, some profiles and pipes require wall thickness to be reduced to around 0.5mm, and the tolerance requirements for extruded aluminum products need to reach ±0.05mm. To extrude such ultra-high precision products, the manufacturing accuracy of the molds must reach 0.01mm, which is fundamentally impossible to achieve with traditional processes. Therefore, there is a need to update processes and adopt new specialized equipment. For example: CNC lathes, CNC machining centers, and advanced high-precision processing equipment like slow wire cutting.
4. The cross-section of aluminum profiles is very complex, especially for ultra-high precision thin-walled hollow aluminum profiles and multi-porous hollow wall aluminum profiles, which require the use of special extruding mold structures. Often, a single mold will have multiple uniquely shaped cavities opened simultaneously, where the thickness of various sections changes sharply, dimensions are complex, and there are many rounded corners. This poses many challenges for mold processing and heat treatment.

5. The variety of aluminum profile extrusion processing products is diverse, with small batch sizes and frequent mold changes, requiring high adaptability of the molds. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the production efficiency of mold making, shorten the mold making cycle as much as possible, be able to quickly change the mold making procedures, and process qualified molds accurately according to the drawings, reducing the workload of mold repair to the minimum extent.
