How to Improve the Yield of Aluminum Extrusion Products
How to improve the yield of extruded products? The following suggestions are for reference by extrusion operators and quality inspectors:
1) Quality Inspection: Machine quality inspection should adopt a fast, accurate, and rigorous approach. 'Fast' means inspecting diligently and promptly; 'accurate' means being familiar with national standards, internal control standards, and the standards of different customers and surface treatments. If necessary, samples should be taken for corresponding surface treatment tests. Misjudgments or accepting products that exceed standards must be strictly avoided. In special cases where judgment cannot be made, the relevant supervisor should be immediately reported. 'Rigorous' means maintaining a firm stance and enforcing the implementation of the system.
2) Extrusion Team Leader: Must not use the wrong mold or fill out the tracking card incorrectly. They should actively perform quality self-inspections, initial inspections, and process inspections.
3) Machine Operator (Acting Team Leader): Actively cooperate with the team leader’s work, verify each mold, control the three temperatures properly, and skillfully manage the material flow according to the structure of different models and surface treatments. Continuously check the quality of the output materials, be responsible for wall thickness, molding degree, tearing or internal dragging, and accurately calculate whether the offcuts of different specifications of profiles are long enough after being cut into semi-finished products.
4) Interrupt Worker: The interrupt worker is also a very important position. Any quality issues must be reported immediately to the team leader or acting team leader. For each mold run, it is necessary to check the height of the feed port lifting frame and the condition of the graphite blocks and high-temperature rollers, as these directly affect the molding quality of the output. Timely activate the fan and check whether the conveyor belt runs smoothly and effectively. If any air bubbles, oil bubbles, tearing, or dragging are found on the surface of the profiles, clearly mark them on the profiles to prevent them from flowing into the next process.
5) Straightening Worker (Material Consolidation, Cutting to Size, Frame Assembly):
Before straightening each piece of material, the surface quality must be fully inspected. The profiles on the cold bed should not be stacked too high to prevent scratches or dents. Hollow profiles should use appropriate end plugs to prevent excessive deformation at the ends. If there are assembly relationships, refer to the sample pieces with the corresponding surface treatment model for this batch order to control the stretching rate during straightening.
When consolidating materials, pay attention that materials with different surface treatments require different consolidation methods. For raw materials, oxidized and sandblasted materials, and 'oxidized electrophoresis polished materials,' try to place the non-decorative side down or have non-decorative sides face each other during consolidation. Keep spacing between profiles to minimize any rubbing, colliding, scratching, or denting of decorative surfaces.
Before cutting to size, consider whether the waste at the beginning and end of the material is long enough. If the whole piece or batch is not long enough, immediately notify the stoppage or machine operator. After cutting, carefully check whether the profile ends are deformed. If deformation occurs due to cutting, slightly slowing down the cutting speed is allowed.
For thermal insulation materials (orders that specifically indicate bending/twisting should be strictly inspected according to customer requirements, while those not specified should be inspected to high-precision standards), each piece must pass inspection on the platform before framing. For profiles with more complex shapes that can be easily damaged by crossbars after framing, place flat tubes between each layer. Products with strict surface quality requirements should use high-temperature felt to separate each piece, and crossbars must be placed neatly.
